In the Kitchen with Filippo Berio: Pasta Aglio, Oglio & Peperoncino

The finest extra virgin olive oil and the freshest ingredients can make even the simplest recipe burst with so much flavor...

...and the rustic and comforting Pasta Aglio, Oglio & Peperoncino is made even better with Filippo Berio's premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil. And it's fast and easy to prepare too, all you need is twenty minutes, give or take, and a little help from Filippo Berio.

Established way back in 1867 in the town of Lucca at the heart of idyllic Tuscanny, when a young Filippo Berio set out to follow his passion, creating the finest, high-quality and premium olive oil. With the passing of countless seasons, Filippo Berio's name soon became a recognized guarantee of quality.

To this day, Filippo Berio remains the world's most popular olive oil with the sole distinction as the only family run brand in the global olive oil industry. And it all boils down to the meticulous process of olive oil production practiced for generations. Like wine, olive oil is dependent on the terroir, including the soil, climate, the variety of fruit, harvesting and traditional production methods. From sourcing olives, harvesting, pressing, blending, and bottling the final product, Filippo Berio maintains its stringent controls in each step of the process. No wonder Filippo Berio is known the world over for its natural, authentic and healthy product with a distinct Italian note.

The Italians, and the rest of the Mediterranean, have always believed in the health benefits of olive oil, it not only tastes good, it's good for you too. Modern medical studies have shown that olive oil can help cut cholesterol levels, aid in decreasing incidences of heart attacks and stroke risks, as well as help in preventing cancer. Olive oil has also been known as the timeless beauty secret of the ancient world, great for massaging tired muscles, and as a skin moisturizer to help prevent aging and wrinkles. And olive oil is the perfect ingredient for authentic Italian and Mediterranean recipes. Filippo Berio Olive Oil is expertly blended with its distinct golden color and mild notes, and is perfect for cooking, preparing sauces, homemade mayonnaise, and sauteing. Filippo Berio's Extra Virgin Olive Oil is ideal for salads, marinades, seasoning, and dipping, or simply adding that finishing touch to any dish with a drizzle. Filippo Berio also offers a Mild & Light Tasting Olive Oil variant for frying, roasting, baking, and desserts.

But any recipe, no matter how simple, can be given an indulgent and flavorful note with Filippo Berio's exceptional Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Made from carefully selected high quality olives and produced using a traditional cold press process with no additional treatment, Filippo Berio's Extra Virgin Olive Oil adds an elegant richness to any dish. And for my Pasta Aglio, Oglio & Peperoncini, it's the essential ingredient with its full and rounded flavors, low acidity, and deep greenish-gold hues.

In addition to its range of fine olive oils, Filippo Berio also offers pasta sauces like the Classic Pesto and the Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto, ideal for pasta, sandwiches, wraps, and a variety of savory dishes. Drizzle some of Filippo Berio's signature olive oils, and you've got a winning dish.

Time to make some pasta with Filippo Berio. The Pasta Aglio, Oglio & Peperoncino is a classic Italian homestyle dish that relies on the freshest ingredients, a deceptively simple dish that's big on flavor. The recipe calls for quality spaghetti, garlic, chili, and liberal amounts of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. And with Filippo Berio in the kitchen, making this traditional and tasty pasta dish is a snap (see full recipe below)...

And it's done. The firm al dente pasta is draped with the richness of Filippo Berio's Extra Virgin Olive adding bold nutty notes complemented by hints of garlic, a soothing heat from the chili, and subtle minty flavors from the fresh parsley. It's a simple pasta dish, easy to prepare, and tasty too. And Filippo Berio's Extra Virgin Olive Oil really rounds out the dish, adding a depth of flavor.

Top with some grated Parmesan and an extra drizzle of Filippo Berio's Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and you've just recreated classic old world flavors right in your kitchen.

Filippo Berio's range of quality olive oils are perfect for any recipe, enhancing the flavor of salad dressings, sauces, marinades, vegetables, rice dishes, and soups, as well as savory dishes and even just for dipping bread. And there's just so many ways to use Filippo Berio's olive oils in your kitchen (for more recipes, see my previous post, In The Kitchen with Filippo Berio: Pasta Arrabiata).
